The Challenge
EXPRO needed a centralized platform to monitor government expenditure, evaluate project performance, and ensure national infrastructure projects align with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 efficiency standards. Government entities needed a reliable way to submit reports, track project lifecycles, and access data-driven insights to optimize public spending — all while meeting the strict security and compliance standards expected of a government financial system.
Our Approach
Codiantech built BUNA as a modern, decoupled platform:
- Frontend: Built with Next.js, delivering a fast, SEO-friendly, and responsive interface for government users submitting and reviewing reports.
- Backend: Architected on Strapi, a Node.js-based headless CMS, with custom data models for Project Milestones, Expenditure Reports, and Entity Profiles, including deep relational mapping between government agencies, project categories, and budget allocations to keep data consistent across the platform.
- Database: PostgreSQL, chosen for the reliability and data integrity standards required in government-grade systems.
- Security: Role-based access control ensures each government sector only sees or edits the data relevant to its department, with REST/GraphQL API endpoints secured to meet KSA government data-protection standards.
- Custom logic: Built custom Strapi controllers to calculate project efficiency scores and expenditure trends, with optimized, paginated queries powering fast dashboards even under high traffic.
- Admin experience: Customized the Strapi admin panel so EXPRO auditors have an intuitive way to review submissions and track the audit trail of project updates.
